Welcome

[Image]The WA Local Government Association is the voice of Local Government in Western Australia. As the peak industry body WALGA advocates on behalf of the State's 141 Local Governments and negotiates service agreements for the sector. WALGA is not a government department or agency.

A State Wide Forum for Local Government will be held next week to finalise a long-term sustainability plan for the sector.

At the recent WALGA Annual General Meeting a motion was passed to hold a State Wide forum on the final version of The Journey: Sustainability into the Future document.

The forum is to be held on Monday, 15 September at the City of Stirling offices, 25 Cedric Street, Stirling at 9.30am for a 10am start.

The State Government has released a discussion paper entitled ‘Towards Zero – Getting There Together’ as part of the development of Western Australia’s next road safety strategy.

The discussion paper, prepared by the Office of Road Safety, brings together views expressed by the community during phase 1 of the community consultation process and the findings of research undertaken by the Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC) on WA roads.  Road safety stakeholders and members of the community now have the opportunity to comment on the strategy.

The Office of Road Safety has developed a feedback form to gather community feedback. The form can be downloaded from www.officeofroadsafety.wa.gov.au or www.roadwise.asn.au. The feedback form can also be completed online by visiting www.synovate.com.au/roadsafety. The closing date for this feedback is 30 November 2007.

Now is an excellent time to consider a career move to Western Australia.

Severe shortages in the availability of experienced professionals are driving rewarding opportunities. The WA Local Government Association can help you secure a position with one of the 141 Local Governments in Western Australia. View the current vacancies or register your interest here.
